I can’t believe I went without bacon for so many years due to being scared of the fat. That was during the “Fat-Free” Craze which was the beginning of making me sick. How little I knew. And the rare occasion that we did make Bacon (my family would insist) I would cook it in the microwave with lots of paper towels.
And Oh! How I missed Bacon! But not the mess!
Cooking bacon in the oven is the easiest way I have found to cook bacon without the mess.
And, Of course, I always save my bacon grease to use for cooking. Who doesn’t? Well, I didn’t for a long time. I’m so glad I’m over that myth! It makes everything taste better, right?
If you choose you could add parchment paper in the bottom of the pan for faster clean up.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb of nitrate-free, sugar-free, uncured bacon (pastured) (I use my roasting pan that came with my oven because I like to save the grease)
Tools:
- Baking Sheet with Rack (I used the roasting pan that came with my oven)
- Tongs
Directions:
- Put raw bacon on rack in roasting pan or sheet pan
- Place in a cold oven
- Turn oven on to 400*
- Cook about 17- 20 min or until desired crispness
- Serve
