I came up with this Paleo Keto Tuna Salad Slider Appetizer when I saw this recipe for Keto Tuna Salad Sandwiches using pickles for the bread floating around on Pinterest. I thought what a great idea since I love tuna salad with pickles. But I wanted to make a healthier Paleo Keto version of it and instead of sandwiches, I wanted it to be an appetizer/snack.

I love my Homemade Mayo & keep it on hand most of the time, if not I do keep a jar of Primal Kitchens Mayo in the pantry just in case I’m lazy. And believe me, that’s pretty lazy because I can whip up my homemade in under 60 seconds.  You could totally make it AIP if you left out the mayo & subbed avocado instead. That actually sounds amazing!

I also keep several cans of the Safe Catch Tuna on hand because I love tuna salad & eat it at least once a week with some plantain chips. I love this brand because they test each fish for mercury. It also comes in several flavors already spiced. I used the Garlic & Herb one. So Yummy!

Now I have a new way to eat it! I love Bubbies Pickles. They are so good & I love knowing I’m getting a good dose of probiotics too! I usually finely chop them & put them in my tuna salad but this will totally save a step, plus they are so cute. Perfect to serve as an appetizer for guests. 

Whoever thought of this is brilliant! It’s one of those moments, where you say to yourself, “Why didn’t I think of that?”

  • Combine all ingredients (except pickles)
  • Let the tuna salad sit in the fridge for about 15-30 minutes (or can be made the day before)
  • Scoop a spoon full of tuna salad on to each pickle slice, and top with another pickle slice. 
  • Can secure with a toothpick, but not necessary unless traveling.
  • Serve

Ingredients

  • 1 can Safe Catch Tuna
  • 3 tbsp Primal Kitchens mayonnaise or Homemade Mayo
  • 1/2 tsp. dried dill or fresh if you have it
  • 1 Tbs. finely chopped celery or to taste (optional)
  • 1 Tbs. finely chopped onion or to taste (optional)
  • sea salt to taste
  • Bubbie's Pickles sliced (I get mine at Kroger)
  • toothpicks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients (except pickles)
